Static IP Address

All Cobweb Broadband services come with a Dynamic IP address as standard. A Dynamic IP address is suitable for customers with standard  Internet access requirements.

A Static IP address is a unique internet identifier which gives a computer a permanent address on the Internet.

For advanced Internet usage, either now or in the future, a Static IP address is a necessity if you plan to:

• Run a local email server for your inbound or outbound mail
• Run a local web server
• Run Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and authentication for secure access to protected web sites
• Use video conferencing services
• Run other services or applications that requires external access such as IP based security cameras or telematics
